Alzheimer's Disease is one of the major neurodegenerative diseases. This book provides both up-to-date information on the epidemiology and aetiology of the disease, and a full clinical picture with details on diagnosis and management options, including pharmacological and non-drug (psychological) therapies. Management of the disease from the primary care angle is discussed, reflecting the current changes within the NHS structure. The effect on the family supporting the patient, who is frequently disorientated and out of control of life, is stressful and there is a chapter suggesting some strategies for the GP to use in alleviating this. This book takes a broad look at the management of this disease in the primary care setting, in which the majority of patients are treated, in order to encourage a thorough understanding and effective clinical approach.
