The text is separated into seven teaching units, each of which focus on specific early learning goals and key objectives from the NLS. Using play-centred activities and themes common to early childhood, each unit provides: a progressive series of activities to support children's development from pre-school to Reception; a high level of support for the practitioner, including questions to sustain and develop the activities; an assessment framework that relates directly to the Early Learning Goals and the key objectives for Reception; and full planning and curriculum guidance.
