Agresti/Franklin teaches students to be statistical thinkers.
Alan Agresti and Chris Franklin have brought their extensive real world and teaching experience to the challenge of developing a new introductory statistics text that is accessible and engaging to students without compromising necessary rigor. The authors have rethought the examples that form the core of most statistics texts and have developed a logical structure that teaches students to think statistically-- to ask and answer interesting, statistically relevant questions. In a nod to the real world data that students encounter most frequently in the popular press, the authors place greater emphasis on proportions than do many books at this level and draw distinctions as appropriate, between academic theory and practical application of statistical ideas and methods.
