This text is intended for prospective and practising teachers of economics and business in schools and in further and higher education. Part 1 examines the place of economics and business in a changing curriculum and the factors that have led to change. Part 2 takes a practical look at the teaching and learning of the subject. It considers the knowledge which economics and business can contribute to student learning, contemporary approaches to learning and the roles of teachers and learners in the learning process, and issues facing teachers and lecturers today including curriculum design, the nature of the subject matter, differentation and progression, stimulating student thinking and assessment. Part 3 focuses on issues confronting teachers as their careers develop, from the decision to enter teaching to the management responsibilities associated with leading a team.
