According competency-based curriculum: This book is in strict concordance with competency based curriculum recently released by Medical Council of India (MCI). The specific learning objectives (SLOs) are framed for each chapter along with alignment of teaching and assessment methods.

Calculations: Some important calculations are given in the Section 5 of book for the understanding of concepts of measurement of physiological quantities like cardiac output, GFR, functional residual volume, etc.
Early clinical exposure: Early clinical exposure system-wise clinical case scenarios are given to enhance the higher level of learning of basic concept of applied physiology.
Self-directed learning (SDL): Comprehensive SDL modules are provided for students with the SLOs to aid in self learning styles.
Spots: A chapter on Relevant Spots from all the sections is added where the students are required to write the identification features and their uses.
