The unification of Germany in late 1990 marked the end of two distinct German film cultures. The introductory section features an in-depth interview with one of Germany's leading film critics, Hans GDunther Pflaum of Munich's Suddeutsche Zeitung who offers comment and insight into the directions West German cinema has taken during its final years as well as the developments that will shape the newly reunified German film industry n the next decade.
