This fifth volume of the history of the crusades focuses on the impact of the crusades on Moslem and Christian populations in the Near East and on the societies developed by the Franks in Palestine, Syria, Cyprus, and Greece. Included are chapters on a range of related topics, from Arab culture in the 12th century and the influence of the crusades on Moslem lands to social classes, agricultural conditions, and political and ecclesiastical organization in the crusader states.
