Leighton writes that this book is a humble contribution towards the New Reformation, a modest prelude to the dawn of a new cultural synthesis which will mean a new religious synthesis, a new ethical synthesis and a new social synthesis-one in which the light of science will be vivified and energized by the moral and humane values implicit in the works of Jesus and his greatest disciples; but a synthesis which will include the ethical and social implications of our new knowledge of man, nature and their interrelations which are the fruits of science.
