This book focuses on the dynamic process of aging and on interventions to support the development of older and integrated societies, from a multidisciplinary point of view. Gathering revised and extended contributions presented at the 3rd Congress of the Interdisciplinary Research Unit "Functional Aging Communities" organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, this book delves into the multidimensional aspects of sustainability in aging, exploring the environmental, economic, social, political, and cultural dimensions. Each chapter some new insights that should help understanding the phenomenon of population aging within the context of sustainability in oder to contribute to the development of future, sustainable, functional aging societies. This book addresses a wide range of specialists dealing with the process of aging and sustainability, and community development in the societies of the future.
