To be written as a work book.; many practitioners have some idea of what clinical supervision is, although interpretations and reactions vary from suspicious to enthusiastic. This book aims to offer a definition of clinical supervision which will encompass its many benefits and dispel the many myths which surround it. The functions of supervision in maintaining and improving standards, in developing and promoting innovation in practice and in offering support and encouragement are explored with particular relevance to palliative care; arguably one of the most stressful areas of care, and one where practitioners reflective practice is most helpful.
