Issued on the year anniversary of Operation Desert Storm, this study was the most comprehensive investigation into U.S. military restrictions on the media from Grenada to the Persian Gulf. The Center found that, during Desert Story, the Department of Defense violated its own information guidelines. According to the Center, the Department of Defense has tried to hide the true face of war by controlling the images of the conflict, frequently with the cooperation of the media.
