Hugh Rafferty hopes to see out his retirement in peace. The former Texas Ranger wishes to swap the days of conflict and fighting for calm on the small ranch in the remote high country he now calls home. It seems some people have other ideas. When gunslingers repeatedly launch attacks on his ranch, Rafferty assumes these are figures from his past, out for revenge. But, as clues develop, he learns there is something much bigger afoot. Rafferty must return to old ways if he is to outwit these men, and he must call on allies from his past to help him overthrow the bandits who are after his ranch and his life.
