Just as the firefighters are getting ready to eat their lunch, the doorbell rings. It's Matt, the little boy who lives across the street from the firehouse. But there's just one problem: Matt is a brat. He kicks and screams and rolls on the floor and jumps up and down, and he never, ever says please. The firefighters don't like his manners or his tone, and they want to help him learn how to behave and be nice to others. They tell him he can't come to visit unless he can learn to say please-but Matt doesn't want to. When his class visits on a field trip, he is very rude. He comes to the firehouse day and night, but until he says please and shows better manners, none of the firefighters will let him in. When Matt's mother gets very sick, though, he must go to the firefighters for help. Will he finally learn to say please? In this children's story, a little boy with very bad manners learns an important lesson about being polite from the firefighters in the firehouse across the street.
