We all know that the suffering and death of Six Million Jews during the second world war was an event unparalleled in world history. But do we really? The First Holocaust is an extremely irritating book, because it proves us all wrong. Supported with many publications from mainstream US media, in particular The New York Times, Don Heddesheimer provides the evidence to show that between 1916 and the late 1920s, mainly American Jewish organizations were claiming that up to six million Jews(!) would suffer terribly in poverty stricken Eastern Europe. In this context, it was claimed that eastern European Jewry would face a Holocaust if they did not receive massive aid. With such claims, millions of dollars were raised in the United States, which at the end were partly used to finance the Soviet revolution in Russia. This book is a key to understand the much more successful Holocaust propaganda which was unleashed during World War II.
