This book presents the ethnographic methodological tradition in comparison with similar qualitative traditions, and explains the main methods used by ethnographers of organizations, namely: observation, interview and text analysis. It shows how decisions concerning the choice of methodology are made and describes the main stages of the methodological process. Further, it offers an introduction to how to analyze ethnographic material and, finally, to how to write a thesis based on field research. The book presents concrete examples of how research is done and short advice is offered by experienced researchers who use the described methods in their field work. Even though the book is comprehensible, it is not a simple manual but a book presenting a respected research tradition in its ontological and epistemological context. This is a methodology book suited primarily for master level students in management studies and sociology, as well as doctoral students looking for an introduction to qualitative methods.
