In 1628, Clan MacKinnon braved the Atlantic Ocean to reach Nova Scotia, only to be ousted by the French. Unable to return to Presbyterian Scotland because of their Roman Catholic faith, they go south to Lynn, Massachusetts, near the Puritans in Salem. In 1630, amidst starvation and disease, a wee lass is born. Her name is Annie. She is stunted in growth and mentally slow, but blessed with a shining spirit and the gift of healing. She grows up adored and protected by her Clan and falls in love with Thomas, a Puritan boy who today would be considered ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder. In the mid-1600s, over fifty years prior to the Witch Hysteria, these children and their mothers would be banished or put to death. History repeats itself. "Special" people with handicaps are stared at and ridiculed. Children with birth defects are bullied. Women continue to fight for equal rights. Annie's story begs to be told. Her message is timeless. Join the Annie Movement!
