Although this is his first book, Woo has published nine poems in the New Yorker and read poetry in their New Yorker Festival. He is a well-connected and established first-book poet. Selection by Michael S. Harper and a blurbs by Henri Cole and Kay Ryan helps establish Woo's standing. Other poems by David Woo have appeared or are forthcoming in The Georgia Review, Southwest Review, Margie/The American Journal of Poetry, Bellevue Literary Review, and Witness. His work has been anthologized in The Open Boat: Poems from Asian America (edited by Garrett Hongo), Poems for America, and a New York Public Library publication and exhibit, Poems for the New Century.
