This text contains the papers from the symposium held in September 1993 to review the scientific findings of the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, launched in 1992. A selection of observational and theoretical papers are included, as well as papers from other missions such as GRANAT, and articles on supporting observations at other wavelengths. Topics covered include: spin-powered pulsars, nucleosyntheses, galactic sources, galactic centre, cosmic rays and galactic diffuse radiation, active galactic nuclei, and instrumentation.
