Dorothy Boux has transcribed in calligraphy and illustrated an ancient account of the creation of the universe. Not much can be said about its origin, except that it came to the attention of H.P. Blavatsky during her extensive travels in India and Tibet in the 1850s. During a visit to a temple, Blavatsky was shown some tablets on which this account was inscribed in an ancient language. She was given an explanation of their meaning and years later she wrote them down for inclusion in her book, "The Secret Doctrine", as the "Stanzas of Dzyan". Although the original source of this ancient knowledge cannot be identified, it can be likened to the accounts in Genesis and the Upanishads, but providing some interestingly different details. The seven days of creation in Genesis are reflected in the seven stanzas into which it is divided. Ultimately, its authenticity rests on its harmony with existing sacred writings, which speak to each one of us in the silence of the heart.
