Born in Cheltenham, England, Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known by her artist name FKA twigs, hails from a diverse background. Her English mother and Jamaican father, both artists in their own right, laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Raised in a small town, Twigs attended a private Catholic school on an academic scholarship. From a young age, she immersed herself in opera and ballet lessons, later venturing into music production in youth clubs at the age of 16. At 17, she relocated to London to pursue a career in dance. A dedicated philanthropist and visual savant, in 2023, she created an original art piece for "The Wild Escape" project with the Art Fund, advocating for youth in the arts. Today, she serves as the ambassador of Sistah Space, a charity supporting survivors of domestic violence of black origin in the UK, helping establish the first safe house for women of black origin.
