The Agro Economic Research Centers (AERCs) and Units were established across the states in India to provide a policy feedback to the Ministry of Agriculture. These have functioned effectively for over five decades and generated many important research initiatives as well as debates. These volumes on Glimpses of Agricultural Economy of India are intended to introduce the readers to various concerns confronting Indian Agriculture and about which extensive research has been undertaken at the AERCs and Units in India. The studies are grouped into two broad themes based on macro and micro-level issues. The research subjects are post stratified and woven in a thematic sequence. The volume on macro premise deals with the broader themes like macro policy changes, WTO, tariff policy, institutional issues, Minimum Support Prices etc., whereas, the micro issues address to the problems confronted at regional level by each of the participating States. These volumes provide a first hand and focused reading about the current issues in Indian Agriculture.
