A Asturias hay que venir para poder entenderla y gozarla, porque se escapa a la palabra y aun a la imagen. Asturias es plural hasta en el nombre, y tierras así exigen la visita del viajero para darse a comprender. Tierra aislada, sencilla, hermosa y transitiva, a pesar del diagnóstico orteguiano. Contrastada en su paisaje, de las nieves al mar en apenas cinco leguas, y desde el torrente arisco del río que nace hasta la mansedumbre del estuario en que desemboca. Y en sus formas de vida, desde el castillete del pozo minero a la exótica casa indiana que asoma entre palmeras. Y en sus manifestaciones estéticas, desde los caballos de Tito Bustillo hasta los murales de Salime. A esta tierra vamos a acercarnos levemente, con palabras breves e imágenes como caricias, un preludio del amor consumado que inevitablemente se ha de producir después. Asturias needs to be visited for it to be understood and enjoyed, because it escapes both word and picture.
