Twelve-year-old Leot is having the time of her life between seventh and eighth grades. Living on the beach, she couldnat be happier. But when her best friend, Alison, goes away to summer camp, Leot is forced to spend more time with her mom. Soon she starts to realize that their relationship has long since gone sour, and her life is not so perfect. To make matters worse, Leot is betrayed by a boy she once liked. Seeking refuge from her troubles at home, Leot spends time with a boy who is new in town. As they grow closer, Leot and her mom drift further apart and soon she is sure that she will never be able to repair their relationship.
