The photographs from the Ready Places Berlin series show places in Berlin which are familiar for the most part, but which look differently in Maximilian Meisse's photographs. Associations with distant places come to mind: the Memorial Church becomes a skyscraper, the Bettenhochhaus of the Charite seems to be located in Central Park, the Funkturm and BfA high-rise shoot up from green treetops, while the ruins of the Deutschlandhalle remind one of countries at war. The pictures of the von der Heydt Villa and the Glienicke casino could have been taken in Italy, the Friedrichstadtpalast has emigrated to Broadway. The interior design in Charlottenburg guest houses and the Cumberland House evoke Paris grand hotels. The photographic settings of the existing locations are the starting point for their transformation and reinterpretation, posing questions about the real situation.
